Homework is listed on the right side of my white board every day. In fact, the first thing students do after they enter the room and we greet each other, is to open their agenda and record the homework. Every weekday there will be reading homework. Students are required to read a minimum of 15-20 minutes per night. Each night the students need to record their reading in their agenda on the calendar according to the given day and month. Students need to record the book title (Use CAPITAL letters), the pages read, like 24-48, and the minutes: 15 min. etc. The students should have a note written on the calendar at the end of each week, from a parent, verifying that they read as they recorded during the week. I review the calendar with the students first thing every Monday at the beginning of class.
Additional homework corresponds to our writing units. Writing homework will be assigned on a limited basis, usually as we finish a writing project. We will utilize the computers at school and publish all writing using Google Docs with MLA format, so that the writing may be accessed anywhere and anytime via the internet.
